Galicia, Spain

We traveled down the coast a bit from Austurias (where I live) to Galicia to visit the Playa de Las Catedrales. Pretty amazing site as these rocks form arches 30 feet or so overhead that can be walked underneath. That is until high tide, a point at which the arches are completely submerged under water. It's an incredible experience; to go from walking on the beach with these towering arches overhead, to seeing the tide slowly begin to engulf them to the point where they are no longer visible.

If you know me, then you know how much I love SBUX. Well, finding a starbucks in a major city such as Madrid is not terribly difficult. However, when one travels outside one of the semi-westernized cities, this task becomes impossible. It's not that they're aren't cafes on every other corner, it's just that they serve coffee in kids meal-esque tazas (well, that goes for most food raciones too). Fine, but they have generally tried to serve it to me "americano" style, which is just a diluted version of a normal Spanish cup of coffee with water added.

me- "Coffee plain, no milk or sugar please"
waiter- "i think you mean you want water added instead"
me- "hmm, no, i think no milk, no sugar, and no water"
waiter- "really, i think you want it american style watered down"
me- "i think i want two cafes now...plain, no water, no milk, and no sugar, gra-thee-as" (the z's are pronounced "thee")

It's been a blast so far, though, and the people are great.

Tee Time

Golfed 18 holes today. And to be honest, I don't particularly enjoy golf (probably due to the fact that I'm not particularly good at it), but i'll have a Mahou and drive a golf cart like it's Le Mans up in this bitc...Too bad we didn't have golf carts, or even caddys, for that matter. What the course lacked in transportation, however, it made up for in picturesque scenery and beautiful weather.

In addition, I have made it a daily priority to hit Aviles beach up to do some boogie boarding, padle tennis, and beach futbol.

I should also mention that my two cousins are super Rock and Roll. What do you know about getting an A+ singing any track from High School Musical 1, 2, or 3 on Wii (in English and Spanish)?? They also make Juanes look like a choir team reject when they sing his songs, too.

*shout out to Raq attack, jillian, the hoff, and coolhaaaaas...and megan fox

Madrid, Spain

So I landed in Madrid, and went to work as a full blown tourist. Here are some pics/vids of my two days spent touring the city:

What happened in Vegas used to stay there...

Wynn hotel, 60th floor

Sorry for the late update, but my computer has been in a vegetative state since I've been in Spain (power cord does not fit into the outlets over here). Apparently there are standards other than those of the U.S., who would have thought??

Well me and my brother went to Vegas to celebrate his birthday just before I left the states. I must relay a story from Vegas that was hilarious. Hopefully others will find the hilarity in it also, and it won't be one of those "you had to be there" tales.

So me and my brother decided to grab some food after a late night at Tryst. It must have been around 4:30am and Denny's was calling our name. Oh, not the clean/new/un-ghetto Denny's on the modern strip, but the broke down Denny's on the old strip (it was closer and my bro was starving). We grabbed a table, got our food, and tried not send it back up the way it came down. As I was eating, I noticed a bum outside Denny's that was harrassing two girls at a table behind ours. I found nothing terribly unusual about this, considering the location, and was kinda amused. The girls started to get flustered as the guy took off his shirt and started rubbing his stomach, and I just laughed harder.

I thought this would be the extent of the entertainment, but no, this is Vegas and there was a Vegas ending. The bum started to walk away, and the girls continued with their meal. I thought the vagabond was leaving, but he started to walk into the Denny's. He came in, did not wait to be seated and headed over to the girls table (shirt off and no shoes). The girls jumped up out of their seats and cowered in the back of the restuarant. The bum gets to their table, and beigns eating one of the girls hamburgers, and then fries. One of the girls yells, sarcastically, "you can just have it all!" The bum mumbles something along the line of, "thanks", takes her plate and leaves.

At this point I know I'm slightly inebriated, along with everyone else, so it took us a minute to register what the hell just happened. But, yes, a bum took advantage of all of our slow reaction time and swooped in on a free meal (I obviously would have tried to stop him if my legs were still talking to my brain). That's cut throat capitalism if I've ever seen it. God bless America!

San Francisco, the land of milk(harvey) and honey

64 ounce jug-o-wine(made in Merced): $6
1 ticket to Ruby Skye: $15
realizing, at arrival, that you left your suitcase and toiletries at home: priceless (i mean you could put a price on it, but you know what im getting at)

Well then, let's get right to it. I have decided that I am changing the official weekend from Saturday/Sunday to Friday/Saturday/Sunday. No one, whether they admit it or not, does anything worthwhile of Friday anyhow, so I'm changing it. Done and done. The team spent 5 hours on Friday BBQ-ing ("the team" consisted of H, N, S, K, Ju, Jer, and a couple other groupies who's names have escaped me at the moment). This was a going away sort of gathering, so libations were liberally consumed, as they should have been (see below for additional details):

Oh, what is that in the hand of Ju, you ask? But a 64 ounce jug-o-vino, of course! Where's his cup? Apparently, he didn't need one :)

Don P?? Cristal?? Nope, Cooks son! And he swears he's not a Kron 4 tranny...

BlueBlockers!

Can you find the American flag?

S.F. was legit, as in fantasy football, and I need some r&r...until Thursday, that is, so stay tuned!
